The 2025 season marks a significant new chapter in the history of the Athletics as they temporarily relocate to Sutter Health Park in Sacramento, CA. After 55 seasons at the Coliseum in Oakland, the A’s have moved to Sacramento while a new stadium in Las Vegas, NV is built. Located in West Sacramento, Sutter Health Park has served as the home of the Triple-A Sacramento River Cats since its opening in 2000 as Raley Field. Built at a cost of $46.5 million, the stadium has a seating capacity of just over 14,000. The main lower seating deck stretches from the left field foul pole to home plate and across to the right field foul pole. Above, a smaller second deck includes a club seating area and 36 luxury suites. Grass berms behind the left and right field walls provide additional seating, and fans in the grandstand enjoy stunning views of downtown Sacramento’s skyline and the iconic Tower Bridge behind right field.
The Athletics are set to play at least three seasons at Sutter Health Park, sharing the venue with the River Cats as their new Las Vegas stadium is being built. Ahead of the 2025 season, the field was transformed from artificial turf to natural grass, and a new two-story clubhouse and office building for the A’s was constructed behind left field. The team will continue to be known as the “Athletics,” with no city name tied to their official club name. Due to the region’s summer heat, most games will be played in the evenings. The Athletics will play their first game at Sutter Health Park on March 31, 2025, against the Chicago Cubs.
